Admission Application Procedures

A. Students Entering Lurleen B. Wallace Community College for the First Time
  1.

All students must complete the Application for Admission. All requested information on the application must be provided.

  2. High school graduates who have never attended college should request that the high school mail an official transcript, with a graduation date posted, directly to the Office of Admissions, Box 1418, Lurleen B. Wallace Community College, Andalusia, AL, 36420. Transcripts will not be accepted from the student; transcripts must be mailed by the school.
  3. Applicants who have not completed high school must submit official General Educational Development (GED) documentation indicating a passing score. An official GED transcript must be submitted.
  4. Students who have not completed high school and who have not earned a GED certificate, see Admission to Courses Not Creditable Toward an Associate Degree.
  5. Transfer students must request that an official transcript from each college previously attended be mailed to LBWCC. Applicants who have completed a baccalaureate degree or higher and who do not plan to pursue a degree at LBWCC, are only required to submit an official transcript from the institution granting the highest degree. TRANSCRIPTS ARE ACCEPTED DIRECTLY FROM INSTITUTIONS, NOT FROM STUDENTS.
  6. Students who intend to remain at LBWCC for only a single term may enroll as transient (rather than transfer) students (see Transient Student Admissions link on left).

B. Readmission

Former students of LBWCC who have had a break in attendance (with the exception of summer terms) will be required to update an admission application form. If these students have attended college elsewhere during this period, official transcripts are to be mailed to the Office of Admissions, Box 1418, LBW Community College, Andalusia, AL 36420.
Note: All student records not related to a students permanent academic record will be destroyed five years from the last date of attendance.

C. Time of Admission
Students may enter at the beginning of the fall, spring, or summer semester. Students are urged to make application in advance of the time they wish to enroll. It is recommended that high school seniors planning to enter the fall semester submit their applications between February 1 and May 30; applications may be accepted, however, before and after these dates.

Student Records
The Director of Admissions and Records is responsible for keeping official records of all students. Student records are confidential and are released outside the College only upon receipt of written permission from the student. Students may view their files upon request.  For more information contact Mackie Stephens, Director of Admissions and Records at 334-881-2273.
