The Center for Professional Development (CPD) is dedicated to providing hands-on, skills-based education and training in the design and media fields by industry-experienced faculty. Programs are geared toward both novices and those already working in the field that are seeking retraining, enhanced creativity and increased marketability. Coursework focuses on design and communication processes and project-based instruction. The programs reflect the college's belief in lifelong learning and individual betterment.

Web Development Programs
- Advanced Website Development - Certificate of Completion
The Certificate of Completion in Advanced Web Development is an advanced-level program intended for those who have successfully completed the Website Development Certificate offered by The New England Institute of Art. The program teaches participants how to further explore and build upon the skills learned in the first program.
The Advanced Web Development course will explore the Hypertext Markup Language, CSS, basic programming skills, and intermediate to more advanced Flash concepts. In addition, there is an introduction to PHP which is a widely-used general-purpose open source scripting language that is especially suited for Web development which can be embedded into HTML. Using a Web Development Process Model students will continue to explore the structural and technical aspects of Web site development and programming.
Participants in the Website Development certificate are required to have advanced knowledge of software applications on a Mac or PC platform and have worked in a professional capacity for at least two years. Direct industry experience is not required. In addition, participants in this certificate are required to have proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Macromedia Flash.
Coursework is hands-on and taught in a Mac lab. Participants may access computer labs outside of class time for coursework and homework completions.

History
The New England Institute of Art was founded in 1952 as the Norm Prescott School of Broadcasting. It has steadily evolved into its current state, now offering nine bachelor degree programs and three associate degree programs. Located at the intersection of Boston and Brookline, the College is just a stone's throw from everything Boston has to offer, from arts, culture and sports to outstanding internship and job opportunities. Offering year-round education in the creative arts, The New England Institute of Art is accredited by The New England Association of Schools and Colleges.
